Lobos In Eighth After Opening Day of The Clerico
TULSA, Okla. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team opened play at The Clerico on Monday with the first two rounds of play at Oaks Country Club. The Lobos shot 8-over in the morning and 18-over in the afternoon to finish the day in eighth place at 26-over.
Host Oral Roberts leads the event at 4-over, with UTEP in second at 11-over and is Northwestern is third at 13-over.
Two Lobos finished the opening day in the top 20 of the individual leaderboard. Alvaro Portillo is T-12th at 3-over after an even par 70 in the morning and a 73 in the afternoon. Carson Herron is T-18th at 5-over after posting rounds of 71 and 75. Mesa Falleur is 7-over through 36 holes, while Wyatt Provence is at 11-over and Clark Sonnenberg is at 14-over.
The Clerico concludes Tuesday, which will also conclude the Lobos’ fall schedule.
