Lobos Host UTEP Monday Night in Charity Exhibition
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team will make its 2024-25 public debut on Monday as it hosts UTEP in an exhibition contest at The Pit. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and there will be coverage on the Lobo Radio Network.
Proceeds from the game will benefit the UNM Children’s Hospital. Tickets for the game begin at $10 and are on sale at GoLobos.com/tickets.
New Mexico is 66-6 all-time in preseason exhibitions, but are playing a Division I opponent in a charity exhibition for just the second time. In 2017-18, the Lobos hosted BYU in an exhibition to benefit relief for Hurricane Harvey, with the Cougars posting a 79-73 win. Last season, the Lobos downed Division II opponents CSU Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands in the preseason.
The Lobos are led by a pair of preseason All-Mountain West selections in Donovan Dent and Nelly Junior Joseph. New Mexico was picked second in the preseason Mountain West poll, its highest projected finish since 2013-14 when UNM was the preseason favorite.
UTEP, who will join the Mountain West in 2026-27, was picked T-5th in the preseason Conference USA poll. Last season the Miners led the nation in steals and turnovers forced per game as they posted an 18-14 record.
The teams last met in 2021-22, a 77-69 UTEP win at The Pit. New Mexico’s last win in the series came in 2018-19, 84-78, at The Pit.
The Lobos open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 4, when they host Nicholls. Game time at The Pit is 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network. Season tickets and single-game tickets for UNM basketball are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets.
