Lobos Finish Sixth at Red Raider Invitational
LUBBOCK, Texas – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play Wednesday at the 2024 Red Raider Invitational with the final round at the Rawls Golf Course. UNM shot 14-over during the final 18 holes to finish the event in sixth place at 16-over.
Host Texas Tech won the tournament with an 8-under total. UNLV was the only other team to finish in red figures, finishing second at 3-under. BYU (4-over), Kent State (6-over) and SMU (13-over) rounded out the top five, just ahead of the Lobos.
Maria Caparros Levin was the Lobos’ top finisher, shooting a final round 77 to finish the tournament at even par, tied for 14th place. Annie Saechueng finished T-16th at 2-over par after posting a 74 in the final round. Maria Garcia finished at 5-over, Lisa-Marie Pagliano finished at 9-over and Ciara Rushmer rounded out the lineup at 27-over. Rebecca Galasso, playing as an individual, finished at 10-over.
“We had a few bright spots today, but didn’t get the job done,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “I am proud of the fight in these players.”
The Lobos return to action Oct. 4-6 with the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Denver.
