Women's Tennis Weekend Recap - Romero Takes Echo Title
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Allison Romero picked up a title at the Bedford Cup in the Mountains Tournament last weekend in Colorado Springs, winning her round robin pod in the Echo Draw and then taking the title match to complete a perfect 4-0 record for the senior.
The win highlighted a terrific opening tournament that saw freshman Maria Matsoukatidi win the backdraw in the Delta Flight, going 3-1 in her first matches not just in college but on American soil. Maud Vandeputte went 2-2 in finishing sixth in the Alpha Draw (All draws had 16 players except the Echo draw, which was eight). Maria Sodre won her first two matches and finished fourth in the Bravo Draw. Sofia Taborga went 3-1 in the Delta Draw to finish third.
