ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico women’s golf team completed its opening event of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday with the final round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, presented by Margaret Moses Branch and Annette Arrigoni. The Lobos shot 12-over during the final 18 holes to finish 10th among the 15-team field at 33-over.

Long Beach State won the event with a 1-under total, six shots ahead of UNLV, who finished at 5-over. Pepperdine (9-over), Cal State Fullerton (12-over) and Grand Canyon (16-over) rounded out the top five.

Senior Lisa-Marie Pagliano, playing as an individual, posted her first career top-five, shooting a final round 1-under 71 to finish T-5th at 2-under. Freshman Maria Garcia shot 76 on Tuesday to finish T-10th at 1-over, becoming the first Lobo to earn a top-10 finish in her collegiate debut since Rebecca Hellbom in 2008-09 (T-10th at the 2008-09 McGuire). Annie Saechueng, also playing as an individual, posted the highest finish of her career at T-12th after shooting a final round 72 to finish at 3-over.

“Even though our finish wasn’t where we wanted it to be, it was a good first tournament of the year,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Lisa-Marie, Annie, Maria and Maria all had a really good tournament. They really pressed when it mattered and made a lot of putts. I am super proud of our performance and we have something to build upon as we head to our next event.”

Maria Caparros Levin finished T-18th at 5-over after a final round 73. Ciara Rushmer finished at 11-over, Rebecca Galasso finished at 18-over and Chelsea Truong finished at 21-over to round out the lineup.

The Lobos will return to action Sept. 24-25 with the Texas Tech Regional Preview, at the Rawls Golf Course in Lubbock, Texas.
