Lobo Women’s Golf Opens Season on Monday at Home
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico women’s golf team opens its 2024-25 season Monday-Tuesday as it hosts the 46th annual Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, presented by Margaret Moses Branch and Annette Arrigoni. The event at the 6,354-yard, par-72 UNM Championship Course is free for spectators to attend.
The first two rounds of the tournament will be played on Monday, beginning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. The final round will be Tuesday, also starting with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
This year’s tournament features 15 schools. Joining the host Lobos are BYU, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Chattanooga, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Kennesaw State, Long Beach State, Nevada, Northern Arizona, Pepperdine, Texas State, UNLV and UTEP.
New Mexico’s lineup for the event is Maria Garcia, Ciara Rushmer, Chelsea Truong, Maria Caparros Levin and Rebecca Galasso. Annie Saecheung, Lisa-Marie Pagliano and Sophia Zamarripa will also compete as individuals.
The 46th Annual Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational marks the 69th year that UNM has hosted a women’s golf event, dating back to 1956 in conjunction with the William H Tucker Invitational hosted by the UNM men’s team. The Lobos have won seven team titles when hosting the event, most recently in 2008. Pepperdine, the 2023 champion, returns to defend the title.
