UNM Track Programs Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams: 9 Lobos Earn Individual Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Six New Mexico women and three men were named All-Academic athletes, and both programs received academic team recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday. Earning All-Academic status were Klara Dess, Lauren Fowler, Mikyla Karley, Nicola Jansen, Julia Kellner, Sophia McDonnell, Victor Akhalu, Ethan Brouw and Brodie Young.

To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).

The UNM women finished the season with 3.32 team GPA, while the men qualified with a GPA of 3.22. To qualify for the team academic award, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution’s NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher.

Creighton had the highest cumulative GPA out of any men’s NCAA D-I program at 3.77. Arizona’s women’s squad recorded a 3.87 GPA to pace all honorees in 2024.
