Maggs, Matsushita Named CSC Academic All-District
GREENWOOD, Ind. — Alex Maggs and Ryoma Matsushita, a pair of seniors on the Lobo Men’s Tennis team, were honored by being named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District. The honor is the second for Maggs and the first for Matsushita.
Maggs also was advanced to the national ballot for potential Academic All-America consideration. Last year in 2023, Maggs became the first Lobo men’s tennis player in program history to earn that honor, being named Third Team.
In order to make CSC Academic All-District, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 overall grade point average and play in 70 percent of the matches.
Maggs in 2023-24 went 16-10 on the season in singles, including 3-1 in Mountain West play and 9-4 at No. 6 singles, his primary position. Maggs also went 11-11 in doubles, going 10-7 at No. 1 doubles. Maggs was named All-Mountain West for the second straight year in doubles, teaming with Arda Azkara at No. 1 doubles.
Matsushita was 5-8 in singles, playing mostly doubles. In doubles, he was the team leader in wins with 17, going 17-11 overall including 7-2 in the fall tournament season. He played mostly No. 3 doubles, teaming with freshman Avery Tallakson.
