Lobos Travel to Indiana for 2024 NCAA West Lafayette Regional
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team travels to Indiana this week for the 2024 NCAA West Lafayette Regional. The tournament will run Monday-Wednesday at the 7,461-yard, par-72 Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Complex in West Lafayette, Ind.
The tournament will feature one round of play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.
The 13 teams competing in the West Lafayette Regional are Vanderbilt, Arizona, Florida, New Mexico Purdue, San Diego State, Mississippi State, Indiana, Charleston, Stetson, Colorado State, Southern Illinois and Tennessee Tech. The top five teams at the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, held May 24-29 in Carlsbad, Calif. The top individual (not on advancing teams) will also advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Lobos are making their 31st NCAA Regional appearance since the format was adopted in 1989, having advanced to the NCAA Championships 19 times. New Mexico advanced to the NCAA Championships last season with a fourth place finish at the NCAA Salem Regional, their 43rd overall NCAA Championship appearance.
New Mexico previous played at Kampen Course in 2017, finishing fourth at the NCAA West Lafayette Regional to advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Lobos will feature a lineup of Bastien Amat, Albert Boneta, Matthew Watkins, Carson Herron, and Connor Adams. Oliver Cage is the alternate.
The Lobos are have posted seven top-three finishes in 12 events this season, highlighted by two victories, having won the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in the fall and the NIT to open the spring schedule. UNM is coming off a runner-up finish at the Mountain West Championship, falling in a playoff to San Diego State.
