Jhang Earns Final MW Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Katherine Jhang, who picked up a pair of wins as New Mexico won the 2024 regular season Mountain West title, was named the final Mountain West Player of the Week as the league turns toward the Mountain West Tournament, hosted by UNLV.

Jhang clinched the opening doubles point, teaming with Leonie Hoppe for a 6-3 win to give UNM a 1-0 lead.  Jhang made it 3-0 with a come-from-behind 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victory.  For Jhang it made her a perfect 4-0 in tiebreakers in Mountain West play. Overall, Jhang improved to 8-1 in tiebreakers this year.

It was the second time this season that Jhang earned Player of the Week honors, and the fourth time a Lobo turned the trick.  UNM will take on the winner of the No. 8 San Jose State/No. 9 Boise State matchup.
