PHOENIX, Ariz. –– The No. 19 New Mexico men’s golf team concluded play Saturday at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate with the final round at the Papago Golf Course. The Lobos shot 8-under during the final 18 holes to move up five places to T-6th amongst an elite field in their regular season finale.

Host Arizona State posted a 28-shot victory, finishing at 38-under. UCLA and Oklahoma State tied for second at 10-under, while Arizona was fourth at 9-under. Houston finished fifth at 8-under, while the Lobos and Utah were tied for sixth at 7-under amongst a field that included six top-20 teams.

Bastien Amat led UNM by posting his fifth top-five finish of the season, shooting a final round 67 to finish T-5th at 8-under for the tournament. Matthew Watkins and Albert Boneta each shot a 3-under 68 on Saturday, while Connor Adams shot 73 and Carson Herron shot 74 in the final round.

“I am proud of how the team bounced back today with one of the low team rounds of the day to finish T-6th in an elite field this week,” said head coach Jake Harrington. “Individually, Bastien had another solid tournament and I am very proud of how the team is taking shape headed into the postseason.”

The Lobos will begin the postseason in two weeks with the Mountain West Championship, held April 26-28 in Creswell, Ore.
