ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Second Annual UNM Athletics & Project Heart Start CPR Training Event, sponsored by the New Mexico Heart Association, Project Heart Start and Cumulus Radio will take place on Saturday, April 20 in The Pit from 9 am to noon.

The event, which was held inside University Stadium last year, is a chance for all community members to come out and learn the basics of CPR.  Attendees to the event, which is free to the public, will receive a CPR card courtesy of Project Heart Start after completion of the roughly one-hour program.

The event is free and open to the public of all ages.  Attendees who preregister at the following link: LINK HERE will receive two free tickets to the August 24 home opener for Lobo Football against Montana State that will serve as the debut of new head coach Bronco Mendenhall.  Attendees will also be able to be trained either around the Pit concourse or on one of the stations on the Pit floor.  Fans who are on The Pit floor will be cautioned to only do this if you are medically able to climb the stairs back to the top.

Fans can also show their CPR card for free admission to the Lobo Softball game against Utah State at 1 p.m. at Lobo Softball Field.  Fans can also watch the Spring Showcase football practice at 1 p.m. at University Stadium as well.

Limited concessions will be available for purchase, and attendees will be able to shop and check out the latest gear at the Lobo Den Store.  The event and parking are both free, and fans will enter The Pit through the main Northeast entrance to the facility.

“Last year’s event was a tremendous success with many Lobo teams coming out to help demonstrate CPR techniques to our community members,” said Will Price, Senior Associate A.D. for Revenue Generation. “We are proud to partner with Project Heart Start and Cumulus Radio in a very important community service project.”

Attendees will be able to watch a video on either of the two large video screens inside The Pit or on any of the TVs located throughout the concourse.  Lobo student-athletes will be on hand at every station to help demonstrate CPR techniques along with the use of an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) which are mandatory in all buildings and are considered a key preventative measure for heart attack victims.

Fans wishing to preregister for the event can do so here or at the link at the top of the page.
