Lobos to Face Tough Test in Flagstaff

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Nothing like a tough road challenge before conference play.  New Mexico ends its 2024 non-conference slate with a tough Southwest battle, traveling to Flagstaff to take on Northern Arizona on Saturday at noon Mountain Time.

It’s a battle of teams with similar records as NAU is 9-5 including a perfect 2-0 in Big Sky play and 3-0 at home.  The Lobos enter at 9-6, with five of those six losses by a 4-3 score, and three of those against nationally-ranked foes.

The Lobos are coming off a 2-1 week that saw Arda Azkara go 5-0 on the way to his third Mountain West Player of the Week honor while Avery Tallakson won his second Mountain West Freshman of the Week honor.  Azkara is ranked No. 117 nationally, once again somehow dropping in the rankings despite a perfect week on the court.
