ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Lobos opened the 2024 Mountain West season with a pair of wins, beating UNLV 4-3 and Colorado State 4-2.  Now, they have to do it on the road. New Mexico takes its 13-1 overall and 2-0 Mountain West record to the Pacific Time Zone for matches at San Jose State (Friday) and Fresno State (Sunday).

It will be a challenging weekend for certain. San Jose State enters the weekend at 9-3 overall and 1-1 in the Mountain West while Fresno State is 7-8 overall and 1-0 in the league.  The Spartans opened up conference play with a 4-2 loss to Boise State in Boise before returning home and defeating Nevada 4-0.

The Spartans did play on Wednesday, dropping a 4-3 decision to Hawai’i.  That loss ended a 5-0 start at home for San Jose State.

Fresno State opened Mountain West play with a 4-0 win over Utah State.  The Bulldogs are now 5-2 at home this season.

New Mexico’s Leonie Hoppe went 2-0 in singles last week, earning the clinching win in both matches. She was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
