Lobos Finish Seventh at Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

LIHUE, Hawaii – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play Tuesday at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational with the final round at the Ocean Course at Hokuala. The Lobos shot 6-under during the third round, the second best round of the day, to finish seventh at 6-over par.

Arizona State won the tournament with a score of 42-under, posting a 25-shot win over North Carolina and Washington, who finished tied for second at 17-under. Sacramento State and Fresno State tied for fourth at 1-under, followed by Rutgers at 2-over and the Lobos at 6-over.

Lisa-Marie Pagliano led UNM on Tuesday, matching her best collegiate round with a 5-under 67. Myah McDonald shot a 3-under 69 in the final round, while Lauren Lehigh shot a 1-under 71. Lehigh was the Lobos’ top finisher at T-13th at 2-under for the tournament. Maria Caparros Levin shot 75 on Tuesday, while Annie Saechueng rounded out the lineup with a 78.

“Our team fought hard today,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “I was super proud of the effort until the end. Lisa-Marie had a spectacular day. I was a great bounce back round for her.”

The Lobos will conclude the regular season later this month at the PING/ASU Invitational in Phoenix, held March 28-30.
