BY THE NUMBERS
The Lobos got a prolific outing from Tye Wood, who went 2-for-3 and scored both of UNM’s runs with a pair of stolen bases. After entering the weekend ranked No. 2 in NCAA D-I in on-base percentage, he’s made it eight straight games in which he’s reached base safely multiple times.

Chase Weissenborn added a pair of singles and five other Lobos – Khalil Walker, Will Asby (2B), Jake Holland (BB), Devon Dixon (BB) and Akili Carris –  recorded a knock each. Asby’s double extended the Lobos’ streak of games with at least one two-bagger to 16 games, and Carris produced UNM’s sole RBI on the day with his second-frame base knock that got Wood across for a 1-0 lead.

In his fifth start of the season on the mound, RHP David Lopez was tagged for eight runs – seven earned – on eight hits while striking out two and walking two.

LHP Justin Still (1.0 IP, 2 H 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K) ended the third with a double play ball and strikeout in succession and RHP Ryan Castillo took the mound to start the next inning, striking out three (KS, KS, KL) with one walk for a hitless sixth. Wood got on base for a third time after being hit by a pitch and scored his second run on a throwing error that followed a single from Carris to get the Lobos back on the board.

Castillo kept rolling with a 1-2-3 sixth that saw him record two more K’s, but the Wolfpack punched back with four hits in succession – to go up 11-2 with two on and nobody out. He battled back with three outs in succession, including his sixth strikeout, but Nevada got one more across on a sac fly before the inning’s end. Castillo finished with three earned runs to his name over three innings of relief with a new career-high in strikeouts.

RHP Andrew Neil (0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) struck out two in the eighth and RHP Brett Russell produced the final out on his first batter faced with a flyout.
