Tsesiul, 400 IM Relay Place at NISC

OCALA, Fla. — Iryna Tsesiul finished 18th overall in the 50-yard backstroke and UNM’s 400-yard medley relay team finished 27th as the Lobos scored 17 points in the first day of swimming events at the National Invitational Swimming Championships in Ocala, Florida.

Tsesiul qualified in a tie for 14th after the prelims with a time of 25.79 to earn a trip to the finals.  There, Tsesiul nearly equaled her morning time with a 25.88 mark to finish 18th, scoring three points.  Jordan Foster was close to qualifying for finals, finishing 31st in the prelims.

UNM also scored 14 points in the 400-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Tsesiul, Foster, Sophia Corder, and Linda Franco finished 27th at 3:48.60, just one second out of 22nd.

The Lobos will continue tomorrow with Foster swimming the 100 Fly.  Tsesiul will swim in the 100 Back on Friday and the team will swim in the 200 Medley Relay.
