Arzaka Named MW Player of the Week Again
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — For the second time this season and the fifth time in his career, Arda Azkara was named the Mountain West Player of the Week. Azkara’s honor marks the fourth time in the last five weeks that a Lobo has been named Mountain West Player of the Week.
In the Lobos’ 4-3 loss to No. 54 Santa Clara over the weekend, the junior played a vital role in keeping the action going, as his singles win tied the team score at 3-3. While in the No. 1 singles spot against the then-No. 53 singles player in the country, logged a 7-5, 6-4 victory.
Over the last five weeks, Azkara has won Player of the Week twice, Arthur Bellegy once and Aram Noroozian once. The only week UNM did not win was the week UNM didn’t play a match.
