CHULA VISTA, Calif. –– The No. 19 New Mexico men’s golf team began play Monday at the Lamkin Invitational with the first two rounds at the San Diego Country Club. The Lobos shot 7-under during the opening 36 holes to finish the day in sixth place.
The Lobos shot 7-under in the morning’s first round before an even par second round in the afternoon. Fresno State and Colorado are tied for the 36-hole lead, both at 18-under par. San Diego is at 17-under, followed by Loyola Marymount at 16-under, San Diego State at 10-under and the Lobos at 7-under.
Albert Boneta was the low Lobo on Monday, finishing the day T-5th at 6-under. He had a 5-under first round 67, highlighted by a hole in one on the par-3 11th, before shooting a 1-under 71 in the second round. Bastien Amat is also in red numbers after Monday, shooting rounds of 68 and 73 to end the day at 3-under. Alvaro Portillo is at 1-over after rounds of 74 and 71, while Matthew Watkins is at 8-over and Valentin Luna is at 10-over.
The Lamkin Invitational will conclude on Tuesday at the San Diego Country Club.
