Albert Boneta Named Mountain West Golfer of the Week
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –– New Mexico senior Albert Boneta was named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, conference officials announced Thursday. Boneta was honored after posting a top-10 finish last week at the Southern Highlands Collegiate.
Boneta was honored for the second time in his career, as he was also recognized once during the 2020-21 season. It is the fourth Mountain West honor of the season for the Lobos as Bastien Amat has been recognized twice and Matthew Watkins once.
Earlier this week, Boneta earned his third top-10 finish of the season, shooting 69-74-70 to finish the Southern Highlands Collegiate in eighth place at 3-under. He was the top Mountain West finisher at an event that including 10 of the top 30 teams in the nation. With the performance, he moved up 80 places from No. 220 to No. 140 in the national individual rankings.
The Lobos, who are No. 19 in the national rankings, return to action next week with the Lamkin Invitational in San Diego where they are the defending champion.
