Lobo Men's Tennis Jumps Into Rankings at No. 69
TEMPE, Ariz. — The University of New Mexico jumped into the 2024 Division I men’s tennis computer rankings, entering the rankings for the first time this season at No. 69.
The ranking means that in all three seasons under Chris Russell, the Lobos have broken into the national rankings. The team climbed as high as No. 71 in 2022, and last year got as high as No. 60.
UNM will have chances to move up and continue to build its resume, starting this weekend with a road match at Santa Clara, which checked in at No. 54. That match will be on Sunday in Santa Clara and fans can watch it at www.golobos.com/watchmtennis. UNM is also scheduled to play ranked foes Denver (No. 38) along with Mountain West teams Boise State (No. 58) and Utah State (No. 60). The Lobos are 7-2 on the season with a win over Louisiana 6-1 (a team that was ranked No. 71 last week) and a 4-3 loss to Arkansas (the current No. 47 team).
