LIHUE, Hawaii –– The No. 16 New Mexico men’s golf team continued play Friday at the John Burns Intercollegiate with the second round at the Ocean Course at Hokuala. The Lobos shot 3-over during the second round to climb up a spot to a tie for fifth place at 3-under.

Arizona holds the 36-hole lead at 9-under, two shots ahead of Grand Canyon at 7-under. Utah and Long Beach State are tied for third at 6-under, while the Lobos are tied with Texas A&M at 3-under.

Bastien Amat was the only Lobo to shoot under par on Friday, carding a 2-under 70. He is T-4th on the individual leaderboard at 5-under through 36 holes. Carson Herron shot even par 72 in the second round and is at 2-under for the tournament. Albert Boneta shot 2-over in the second round, while Matthew Watkins shot 3-over. Alvaro Portillo rounded out the lineup with a 79 on Friday.

The John Burns Intercollegiate will conclude on Saturday on the island of Kauai.
