Lobos Open Two-Game Road Trip Tuesday at Nevada

by Steve Kirkland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team begins a two-game road trip on Tuesday with a visit to Nevada. Game time in Reno is 9:00 p.m. MT (8:00 p.m. PT) and the game will air on CBS Sports Network and the Lobo Radio Network.

The Lobos are 19-5 this season, 7-4 in the Mountain West, and are No. 22 in the NET. New Mexico has won its last three road games, all by double digits, and are looking for their first four-game conference road win streak since a five-game streak in 2013-14. In the last road game, a victory last Tuesday at Wyoming, JT Toppin had his eighth double-double of the season to set a UNM freshman record.

Nevada is 19-5 overall, 6-4 in the Mountain West, and is coming off a pair of ranked wins last week, winning at No. 22 Utah State and downing No. 24 San Diego State at home in overtime. Nick Davidson led the Wolf Pack in those wins to earn Mountain West Player of the Week honors.

New Mexico won this year’s first meeting, 89-55 on Jan. 28 at The Pit, to snap Nevada’s nine-game win streak in the series. Jaelen House had 21 points, six assists and six steals to lead UNM in that game. The Lobos have lost six straight in Reno since a victory in the 2015-16 regular season finale.

The Lobos will wrap-up the road trip on Friday with a visit to San Diego State. Game time at Viejas Arena is 8:00 p.m. MT (7:00 p.m. PT) and the game will air on FS1.
