SAN DIEGO, Calif.— Nyah Wilson scored a game-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds and a game- and career-high six assists and Viané Cumber recorded her third double-double of the season on 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, but a late 10-0 SDSU run proved to be the difference as New Mexico lost 60-53 on Wednesday afternoon.
There were a total of 14 lead changes and four ties, with the Lobos leading for 26:10 of the game and by as many as nine in the third quarter, but only scored nine points in the fourth to allow the Aztecs to take momentum and come back.

SDSU tied the game at 17 in the second quarter, but a Cumber three gave UNM back the lead. However, SDSU went on an 8-0 run to go in front for the first time since it was 8-7 before a Cumber basket as the quarter was coming to an end stopped the run for the 25-22 halftime score.
After SDSU opened the third quarter with a basket, five quick points by Wilson and a basket by Cumber gave UNM back the lead, with a Lara Langermann steal leading to a basket by Wilson extending the run to 9-0 and a 31-27 lead. The Aztecs cut it to one, but the Lobos answered with a 7-0 run that included a Wilson layup, a Langermann three and a Hulda Joaquim jumper to create separation. An Aztec layup stopped the run, but a Cumber three stretched the lead to the largest point at nine at 41-32. SDSU cut the margin to three with 54 seconds remaining in the quarter, but a Natalia Chavez three with 35 seconds left ended the scoring for the quarter with UNM in front 44-38.
