Bastien Amat Named Mountain West Golfer of the Week
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –– New Mexico senior Bastien Amat was named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, conference officials announced Thursday. Amat was honored for the second time this season, third time in his career, after leading the Lobos to a record-setting victory at the NIT.
Earlier this week, Amat led New Mexico to a school-record 51-under score to win the NIT at OMNI Tucson National, taking home the trophy in an event that featured 11 top-60 teams. Amat shot 16-under with rounds of 66-67-67 to finish T-3rd on the individual leaderboard, his third straight top-five finish.
Amat was honored as the Golfer of the Month in October as the Lobos swept both awards in the fall with Matthew Watkins honored in September. Amat’s first career Mountain West Weekly/Monthly honor came in April of 2022.
The Lobos, who moved up to No. 21 in the national rankings after the victory, return to action in mid-February with the John Burns Intercollegiate on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
