Sold Out Pit Awaits Lobos’ Saturday Afternoon for Matchup with San Diego State
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team hosts the first of back-to-back ranked opponents at The Pit on Saturday when No. 19 San Diego State visits Albuquerque. Game time is noon and the game will air on CBS (KRQE in Albuquerque) and the Lobo Radio Network.
Saturday’s game is sold out, marking the second sellout of the season at The Pit. It is also a Stripe Out at The Pit as fans should wear either red or white depending on the section of their seats.

Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. (90 minutes prior to tipoff for all UNM men’s basketball home games this season). Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid lines while going through the security procedures upon entry to The Pit, and due to construction that has caused increased travel times in the area. With new traffic flow patterns in place, fans are encouraged to click here for a map detailing the best route to take for an efficient arrival to their designated parking lot.
The Lobos are 13-3 this season, 1-2 in the Mountain West, after falling at UNLV 83-73 on Tuesday night. New Mexico is 8-0 this season at home and downed Wyoming 77-60 last Saturday in its conference home opener. Jamal Mashburn, Jr. leads the Lobos in scoring at 16.2 points per game.
San Diego State, last year’s NCAA runner-up, enters the game with a 14-2 overall record and a 3-0 mark in the Mountain West. Jaedon LeDee is the leading scorer in the conference at 22.0 points per game and is second in the league in rebounding at 8.8 per game.
The teams split last year’s games, each winning on the other’s home floor. The Lobos upset No. 23 San Diego State 76-67 in San Diego in January before the No. 22 Aztecs used a buzzer-beater to win at The Pit, 73-71, in February.
The Lobos will host another ranked team on Tuesday when No. 20 Utah State visits Albuquerque. Game time at The Pit is 8:30 p.m. and the game will air on FS1. Tickets for that game are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets.
