Lobos to Face North Texas in Denton
DENTON, Texas — The Lobo swimming and diving team returns to the pool and diving tanks this weekend as the team heads to Denton, Texas for a dual meet against the North Texas Mean Green. The meet will take place in two venues, with the swimming events set for the Pohl Recreation Center and the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard to be held at the PEB Natatorium.
Both swimming and diving are set to begin at 10 a.m. Central Time and 9 a.m. Mountain Time.
For the Lobos, UNM will be looking to repeat and better its solid performances in Las Vegas at the UNLV Invitational, a meet that the Lobos finished sixth. Jordan Foster led the Lobos in that meet, and that’s a bit of an understatement. Technically, she led everyone in that meet as she was the meet’s top scorer with 75 total points including a pair of event wins.
As has been the case for most of the season, the times for Lobo swimmers and divers have gotten better and better, which culminated in the UNLV Invitational. Now, UNM will look to put it together in a straight dual meet against a North Texas team that defeated UNM last season 125-118. North Texas enters with a 1-1 dual meet record, coming off a 157-142 loss at home to New Mexico State. UNM is 0-4 in duals this season, and UNM also lost to New Mexico State in its last meet, falling 172-123.
After the meet, North Texas will honor three seniors who are competing in their final home meets.
