ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team concludes its non-conference schedule Friday night by hosting Eastern New Mexico. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network and on the Lobo Radio Network.
Tickets for the game are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. (90 minutes prior to tipoff for all UNM men’s basketball home games this season). Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid lines while going through the security procedures upon entry to The Pit, and due to construction that has caused increased travel times in the area. With new traffic flow patterns in place, fans are encouraged to click here for a map detailing the best route to take for an efficient arrival to their designated parking lot.
Friday’s game is mascot night, as fans can meet some of their favorite local mascots before the game on the concourse and watch the mascots play in a halftime basketball game.
The Lobos are 11-1 this season and have won 10 straight, tied for the sixth longest active win streak in the nation. New Mexico is 24-1 in regular-season non-conference games over the past two seasons, tied for the second-best record nationally. JT Toppin is coming off his fourth Mountain West Freshman of the Week honor, after a nine-point, 11-rebound performance against UC Irvine on Dec. 20.
Eastern New Mexico is 8-2 this season and is receiving votes in the latest Division II poll. Friday’s game is their only contest this season against a Division I opponent. The Greyhounds, who have won six straight, are led in scoring by Jahcoree Ealy at 24.1 points per game.
UNM leads the all-time series 16-1, including 6-1 at The Pit. The Greyhounds’ lone win in the series came at The Pit in 1991-92, an 81-76 victory. The teams last met in the 2019-20 season opener, a 92-71 Lobo victory.
The Lobos will begin Mountain West play on Jan. 2 with a visit to No. 15 Colorado State. Game time is 8:30 p.m. and the game will air on FS1 and the Lobo Radio Network. New Mexico’s home conference schedule begins on Jan. 6 as it hosts Wyoming.
