Lobos Host Hampton Sunday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Lobos close out the week with their third game of the week against Hampton on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Sunday’s game will be a toy drive, where fans are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy.

UNM has another quick turnaround, already having played Monday and Thursday this week and enter 7-3 following a loss to Southern Utah on Thursday night. Charlotte Kohl led the Lobos with 12 points, the third consecutive game finishing in double figures, with Nyah Wilson grabbing a game- and career-high 11 rebounds.

Hampton enters the game 0-6 on the season and has been off since Nov. 29. Of the six games, four have been on the road. The Lady Pirates have a mutual opponent with the Lobos in New Mexico State, with NMSU winning 78-47 at the LIU Classic on Nov. 24.

This will be the first meeting between the two programs.

CONSISTENT CONTRIBUTORS
Aniyah Augmon has scored in double figures in seven games, while Nyah Wilson has scored in double figures in seven games, including four of the last five, with three games scoring 20 or more points. Paula Reus has scored in double figures in five games, which includes three of the last four and Vianè Cumber has scored in double figures in four games with two games with 20-plus points. Charlotte Kohl has scored in double figures in each of the last three games, four times this season and has three double-doubles on the season, two coming in the last three games.

The Lobos have shown their ability to control the boards, outrebounding their opponents 435-389 (+46) and outrebounding opponents in six games.

Charlotte Kohl leads the team with 95 rebounds (9.5 per game), with two 20-rebound performances, an 18-rebound outing in the final exhibition against Adams State, had a team-high eight rebounds in the first exhibition and grabbed nine against Texas Southern to start the season. Of her rebounds, 44 are on the offensive end and her 4.4 offensive boards per game are the most in the conference. Kohl is 14th in the NCAA in rebounds, 12th in offensive rebounds per game and 42nd in rebounds per game.

The Lobos are ranked 30th in the NCAA in rebounds per game (43.5), an improvement from last season in which the Lobos finished 177th in the NCAA in rebounds per game with 36.5. In addition, the Lobos have made an improvement in rebounding margin, finishing last season 246th at -2.0, compared to this season where the Lobos are currently ranked 102nd with an +4.6 rebounding margin. UNM is ranked 31st in defensive rebounds per game at 30.0.

PAINT POINTS
UNM has outscored opponents in the paint in eight games this season and by a 340-242 (+98) margin, and has scored 340 of its 640 points (53.1%) in the paint this season.

ABOUT HAMPTON
HU is averaging 46.3 points per game while allowing 68.3 points per game. Hampton is led in scoring by Camryn Hill (13.5 ppg) and Cheyenne Talbot (11.2 ppg) with Talbot also leading in rebounds per game at 4.8.

Hill is the only player to start all six games, with Ariana Wilkes, Talbot and Aisha Dabo starting four, Malaka Cobb, Le’Asia Foreman and Amyah Reaves starting three. Arisha Boston has started the last two games and Tyra Kennedy has started one.

Hampton returned five players from last season in Hill, Talbot, Reaves, Wilkes and Heaven Accimeus.

Hill and Talbot have each led the team in scoring twice with Dabo and Foreman leading in scoring once. Talbot scored a season-high 25 points against NMSU.
