Lobo Softball Releases 2024 Schedule
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The 2024 Lobo Softball schedule features 13 home games and 54 total games, with the Lobos traveling to eight different states throughout the season and playing in five different tournaments leading up to Mountain West competition.
Entering her second season at UNM, head softball coach Nicole Dickson put together a schedule that includes seven teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season (McNeese, Cal, Louisiana, Marist, Minnesota, GCU, San Diego State) with a team that advanced to the Super Regionals, 15 teams that won over 30 games and three teams that won over 40 games last season.
UNM opens up in Louisiana for the second-straight season, starting off the 2024 campaign against Tennessee State and McNeese on Feb. 9 before playing in the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette against Chattanooga and Cal and Louisiana, with the Ragin’ Cajuns advancing to the Super Regionals last season.
Following a midweek doubleheader at UTEP on Feb. 14, the Lobos return to Texas the next two weekends, first in Abilene for the ACU Tournament against Marist, Abilene Christian and Houston Christian in a five-game tournament from Feb. 16-18, and to Denton and the UNT Tournament against North Texas, Stephen F. Austin and Minnesota from Feb. 23-25.
The Lobos open their home schedule to conclude February, hosting Texas Tech on Feb. 28 and is one of three games scheduled against the Red Raiders.
Leading up to the conference portion of the schedule, the Lobos travel to Arizona for the Purple Classic hosted by GCU at the start of March, with games against Pacific, Montana, Toledo and Grand Canyon, before a trip to Hawai’i and the Rainbow Wahine Classic against Cleveland State, UConn and Hawai’i, and a doubleheader at Texas Tech on March 12.
MW play begins on the road at San José State for a three-game series starting on March 15, followed by a home series against UNLV the weekend of March 22. The Lobos are then on the road for their next four games, which includes a doubleheader at New Mexico State on March 26 and at Nevada the final weekend of March.
The home schedule picks up in April with six games, beginning with a midweek doubleheader against San Diego State and includes a four-game homestand against a pair of Aggies in New Mexico State (April 16) and Utah State (April 19-21).
UNM closes the MW regular season at Boise (April 26-28) and with one final home series against Fresno State (May 2-4) with the conference tournament in Boise this year from May 9-11.
