Flagstaff, Ariz. – The University of New Mexico women’s diving program concluded their appearance at the Lumberjack Diving Invitational with a bang on Sunday, as senior Kristen Hepfer achieved her first zone qualifying score of her collegiate career. The invitational, hosted by Northern Arizona University, ran the platform diving event and the team diving event on its final day of competition.

Hepfer’s first career zone qualifying score came in the platform event, as she placed fifth among the field with an overall score of 227.30, which was also a new career-best score in the event.

Freshman Alice English placed 13th in the event with a score of 193.55 and sophomore Abigail Bouravnev placed 24th in the event with a score of 141.00.

The Lobos also competed in the team diving event, in which each diver performed two dives from any of the three levels (1-meter, 3-meter, or platform), though the team had to perform two dives from each of the three levels, collectively. The Lobos placed fourth in the event with a score of 258.25.

New Mexico’s swimming and diving teams will both compete next at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., during Dec. 17-19.
