Lobos Record Two Top-10 Finishes on Day 2

Flagstaff, Ariz. – The University of New Mexico women’s diving team concluded day two of the Lumberjack Diving Invitational on Saturday with two top-10 place finishes. The day’s events consisted of the 3-meter diving prelims, consolation finals, and championship finals.

Freshman Alice English, fresh off of her victory in the 1-meter event on Friday, claimed the final spot in the championship final with a eighth-best score of 252.40 in the prelims of the event. In the subsequent championship final, English scored 267.30 to finish in seventh place, for the Lobos’ best finish on the day.

Senior Kristen Hepfer placed 10th in the prelims for the 3-meter event on Saturday with a score of 244.00, which qualified her for the consolation final later in the afternoon. Hepfer then scored a season-best 270.90 to finish first in the consolation final, officially ninth-place overall in the event.

Sophomore Abigail Bouravnev also competed in the prelims, finishing with a score of 187.50.

English, Hepfer, and Bouravnev will all be back in the diving well on Sunday as they compete in the platform event. The event is set to begin at 10:00am local time.
