Dotson and Milicevic Sign with Lobo Men’s Basketball

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball program announced today that two prospective student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend New Mexico, beginning in the summer of 2024.

Guard Kayde Dotson (Beaumont, Texas) and forward Jovan Milicevic (Toronto, Ont.) made their official commitments on Wednesday to join the Lobos next season. Both players are ranked among the top 250 players in the class of 2024 and will form the freshman class of next year’s team.

Three-star recruit by 247Sports … ranked as the No. 31 combo guard and the No. 13 player in Texas in the class of 2024 … Helped Beaumont United High School to a 104-5 record over the last three seasons, winning the 2021 and 2022 Texas 5A State Championships, finishing as the 2023 Texas 6A State Runner-Up, and earning a top-25 national ranking by MaxPreps all three years … Shined for JL3 at the 2023 Peach Jam, averaging 18.0 points (eighth at the event), 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, while shooting 40.5% (17-42) from 3-point range.

Richard Pitino on Dotson: “We are excited about the addition of Kayde to our basketball program. He’s a dynamic scoring guard who has won everywhere he has been. I expect him to come in and make an immediate impact on and off the court.”

Dotson on UNM: “The year-to-year progression of the program under Coach Pitino has me excited about my future as a Lobo. The freedom he lets his guards play with appealed to me and I can’t wait to get there.”

Four-star recruit by ESPN … ranked as the No. 27 power forward in the nation and the No. 9 player in Arizona in the class of 2024 … plays his high school basketball at Dream City Christian in Arizona … represented Canada at the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup in Spain, averaging 6.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game … plays for Arizona Unity on the Nike EBYL Circuit, where he averaged a league-best 25.0 points per game in 2022.

Pitino on Milicevic: “Lobo fans are going to love Jovan. He is a skilled forward who can score a variety of ways and has an extremely high basketball IQ. He’s a winner and will be a great representative of our program on campus and in the community.”

Milicevic on UNM: “I chose UNM because they were the most consistent in the recruiting process and always stuck with me. When I went on the visit, it felt like home. I built an amazing relationship with the coaching staff from the start and all the love that Lobo fans showed me was incredible. I am excited to be a Lobo.”
