ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team opens its preseason schedule Thursday as it hosts CSU Pueblo in an exhibition contest at The Pit. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and there will be coverage on the Lobo Radio Network.
Tickets for the game begin at $15 and are on sale at GoLobos.com/tickets. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. (gates will open 60 minutes prior to tip for the exhibition games and 90 minutes before tip for regular season games this season). Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the same enhanced screening procedures that debuted last season will be in effect for the entire 2023-24 season.
New Mexico is 64-6 all-time in preseason exhibitions, including a 27-0 record against non-Division I collegiate opponents. The Lobos defeated CSU Pueblo 85-53 in last year’s preseason exhibition, as Jaelen House scored a game-high 20 points.
The Lobos are led by a pair of preseason All-Mountain West selections in Jamal Mashburn, Jr. and Jaelen House. New Mexico was picked third in the preseason Mountain West poll, its highest projected finish since 2019-20. CSU Pueblo was picked 12th in the preseason poll in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
New Mexico will conclude the preseason with another exhibition against a team from the RMAC, as it hosts New Mexico Highlands on Nov. 1. That game will also tip at 7:00 p.m. and air on the Lobo Radio Network.
The Lobos open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 6, when they host Texas Southern. Game time at The Pit is 7:30 p.m. and the game is the second of a season-opening doubleheader at The Pit. The UNM women’s team also hosts Texas Southern in its season opener, with that game tipping off at 5:00 p.m. Season tickets and single-game tickets for UNM men’s and women’s basketball are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets.
