Lewis Named Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl Defensive POTW
FRISCO, Texas — The honors just keep pouring in for Lobo players as Jermarius Lewis was named the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl Defensive Player of the Week.
Lewis, who had a career game against Hawai’i, was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The award continues a host of honors as Dylan Hopkins was the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week and a Manning Star of the Week, Andrew Henry was named an Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Honorable Mention Player of the Week and Aaron Rodriguez was named to the Ray Guy Award’s Ray’s 8 list for punter of the Week.
Lewis had a career game with a team-best seven tackles, a TFL and a sack, a forced fumble, two pass breakups and two interceptions. He was a part of three straight takeaways in the third and fourth quarter. On a fourth down inside the red zone, he sacked Hawai’i quarterback Brayden Schager, forcing a fumble that UNM recovered to end a drive, and then on the next two drives he intercepted Schager in the end zone to thwart back-to-back drives.
The Lobos (3-4, 1-2 MW) travel to take on Nevada at 8:30 pm Mountain Time on CBS Sports Network.
