Lobos Cap Fall Season with 11th Place Finish at Jim West Challenge

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play Monday at the Jim West Challenge, with the third round of its final event of the fall. The Lobos shot 6-over during the final 18 holes at Kissing Tree Golf Club to end the event in 11th place at 3-under.

SMU won the event at 38-under, while Texas Tech (29-under), Houston (28-under), Oklahoma (20-under) and Oklahoma State (18-under) rounded out the top five.

Lauren Lehigh was the Lobos’ top finisher, recording her third top-10 finish of the season. She shot an even par final round of 72 to finish T-9th at 9-under. Myah McDonald shot 73 on Monday, while Lisa-Marie Pagliano posted a 74 and Maria Caparros Levin shot a 75. Ciara Rushmer rounded out the lineup with a final round 80.

“We didn’t bring our A-game today,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “It was a very frustrating day, but we will learn from it.”

The Lobos will begin the spring season Feb. 2-3 when they travel to Guadalajara, Mexico for the Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Virginia.
