Azkara Falls in Semis in Three
STILLWATER, Okla. — A finals appearance was not to be as No. 5 seeded Arda Azkara lost in three sets to homestnading No. 6 seed Alejandro Garcia 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Garcia will face the No. 9 seed Manuel Melvin of Arkansas in the finals.
For Azkara, it was a brilliant run to the semifinals, going 4-1 with two seeded wins along the way. Overall it was a terrific tournament for UNM as they eight players for UNM went 19-9 in the main draw and 19-10 overall in singles. The Lobos had four players in the Round of 16 and two in the quarterfinals.
The Lobos are off until traveling to Dallas for the SMU Invitational November 3-5.
