Lobos, Nike Announce Extension Through 2027

by Frank Mercogliano

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico athletic department has proudly sported NIKE uniforms and team gear since signing an all-department contract in 2008, and that is not changing any time soon.  UNM and NIKE have announced an extension of their agreement that will last through the 2026-27 academic year.

The extension continues the main tenets of the 2020 signed agreement.  The agreement will cover official gear for the teams and coaching staffs as well as on-field uniforms

“We are excited to once again extend and continue our long partnership with NIKE,” said Vice President/Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez. “NIKE is the industry leader in team equipment, apparel and product.  NIKE as a brand carries meaning with our coaches, student-athletes and fans.  We are tremendously proud to continue our association with NIKE through the 2026-27 season.”

Over the previous 15 years under NIKE, Lobo Athletics has enjoyed tremendous success to the tune of 64 conference titles, including a record 10 in the 2011-12 and 2013-14 academic years.

Danny Gonzales, Head Football Coach
