Men’s Golf Travels to California for Alister Mackenzie Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team will play its final event of the fall this week when it travels to California for the Alister Mackenzie Invitational. The event, hosted by Cal at the 6,734-yard, par-71 Meadow Club in Fairfax, will run Monday and Tuesday.

The first two rounds of the tournament will be played on Monday and the final round will be Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

The event consists of 13 teams, including four ranked in the top 50 of the Golfweek rankings. The Lobos are the highest ranked team in the field at No. 30, one spot ahead of host Cal at No. 31. Fresno State at No. 33 and San Francisco at No. 42 are also in the field. Cal Poly, Harvard, Minnesota, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, San Jose State, Santa Clara, UCSB and UC Davis round out the field.

The Lobos will feature a lineup of Albert Boneta, Bastien Amat, Matthew Watkins, Carson Herron and Alvaro Portillo.

The Lobos are coming off their first victory of the Jake Harrington era, winning the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate two weeks ago at the UNM Championship Course.
