UNM Hosts Colorado College for MW Home Opener Thursday
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Lobos return to UNM Soccer Complex to begin the second week of conference play, hosting Colorado College on Thursday night at 7:30.
Thursday’s match will be UNM’s Childhood Cancer Awareness match in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with the Lobos set to wear their yellow jerseys. Tickets are $2 for the match and the team will be raising money to go towards the fight against childhood cancer.
UNM enters the week following two draws on the road at San José State (1-1) and Fresno State (0-0) and is 3-1-4 overall, 0-0-2 in the MW. Colorado College is 0-8-1, 0-2-0 in conference after two 2-1 losses to Boise State and Utah State.
Historically, the Lobos are 11-8-0 all-time against the Tigers, 5-4-0 in Albuquerque. However, UNM is 4-1-0 in the last five meetings and 8-2-0 in the last 10, and in the last five matches, has outscored Colorado College 9-3 with four shutouts. The Lobos are 8-2-0 and have outscored the Tigers 17-8 under Coach Heather Dyche.
In addition, the Lobos are unbeaten in their last nine Mountain West regular season matches dating back to last season’s 3-1 win over Fresno State on Oct. 6. UNM closed the conference season 4-0-3 and with the start of this year’s conference season, is 4-0-5 in the last nine MW matches. UNM’s last loss in conference came against the Tigers in a 3-0 loss on Oct. 2.
