Lobos in Fourth After Opening Day of USF Intercollegiate
SAN FRANCISCO –– The New Mexico men’s golf team opened play Monday at the USF Intercollegiate with the opening two rounds at TPC Harding Park. The Lobos shot 10-under over the first 36 holes of the event to end the day tied for fourth place.
Loyola Marymount holds the 36-hole lead at 23-under. Host USF is second at 17-under, followed by Santa Clara in third at 14-under and the Lobos and Princeton tied for fourth at 10-under.
Matthew Watkins is in the individual top-10 after Monday’s play, sitting T-7th at 5-under after rounds of 70 and 69. Albert Boneta is at 4-under after posting back-to-back rounds of 70. Carson Herron also shot a pair of red numbers, posting rounds of 70 and 71 to be at 3-under. Bastien Amat is at 2-over while Oliver Cage rounds out the lineup at 5-over in his collegiate debut. Alvaro Portillo is at 3-over while playing as an individual.
The USF Intercollegiate will conclude Tuesday at TPC Harding Park.
