Hopkins Named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — After throwing for a career-high four touchdown passes on 13-of-17 passing, Lobo quarterback Dylan Hopkins was named the Mountain West Player of the Week by league officials. Along with Hopkins, other honorees were Air Force linebacker Alec Mock (Defensive), Air Force kicker Matthew Dapore, (Special Teams), and San José State Matthew Coleman (Freshman).
Hopkins became the first Lobo quarterback to earn Offensive Player of the Week in the Mountain West since Terry Wilson earned the nod after a 381 yard passing day in 2021 against New Mexico State. On Saturday, Hopkins was brilliant, throwing for 273 yards on just 13 completions. He threw as many touchdowns (4) as incomplete passes (4). He had touchdown passes of 16, 27, 46 and 78 yards. His four touchdowns passes tied for the second-most in school history.
Overall, UNM scored 56 points, the most points in a game since the 2018 season opener which was a 62-30 win over Incarnate Word.
Hopkins and Company will look to keep it going on Saturday as UNM hosts New Mexico State in the 113th version of the Rio Grande Rivalry game. Tickets for the 6:02 pm kickoff can be purchased here. UNM is looking to rebound from last year’s 21-9 loss in Las Cruces.
