New Mexico to Play Santa Clara in Jack Jones Classic
HENDERSON, Nev. – The New Mexico men’s basketball team will compete in the Jack Jones Classic for the second straight year, playing Santa Clara on Dec. 9 at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev. The game will tip off at 2 p.m. PT (3 p.m. MT) with TV/streaming information to come at a later date.
The game is the first of a Saturday tripleheader at the Jack Jones Classic. Following the New Mexico-Santa Clara game will be Nevada against Drake. UNLV against Loyola Marymount rounds out the day at the Dollar Loan Center. Tickets for the tripleheader go on sale on August 25 at www.thedollarloancenter.com and www.axs.com, and one ticket is good for admission to all three games.
Santa Clara is coming off a season in which the Broncos went 23-10, including 11-5 to finish third in the West Coast Conference, and made their second straight NIT appearance. UNM and SCU haven’t met since 2011-12, when the Broncos edged the Lobos 79-76 in overtime in the opening round of the 76 Classic in Anaheim.
The game will be the fourth of the season for the Lobos at the Dollar Loan Center, home of the NBA G-League Ignite. New Mexico will also be in action Nov. 21, 22 and 24 in Henderson for the Ball Dawgs Classic, with games against Toledo, Rice and Pepperdine.
Last year, the Lobos made their debut at the Jack Jones Classic, with a 67-64 victory over San Francisco at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay. That game was scheduled to replace one of the cancelled games against New Mexico State.
