Lobos Travel to Arizona for 2023 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico will travel to Arizona this week for the 2023 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship. The event will begin Friday at the 6,368-yard, par-72 Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale.
The Lobos advanced to the NCAA Championship by finishing fifth at last week’s San Antonio Regional. The 30-team field, the five top finishers at each of the six regionals, will play the first three rounds of the event Friday-Sunday. The top 15 teams will make the cut and play the final round of stroke play on Monday. The top eight teams from stroke play will advance to match play, which will crown the national champion. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be Tuesday and the final on Wednesday. Golf Channel will televise the action live for the final three days (Monday-Wednesday) and there will be live scoring throughout the week on GolfStat.com.
The Lobos are making their 16th NCAA Regional appearance, their first since 2010. New Mexico has five top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championship, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in 1985. Caroline Keggi own’s the two best NCAA individual finishes by a Lobo, winning the title in a playoff in 1987 and finishing T-2nd in 1986.
New Mexico’s lineup for the event is Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana, Lauren Lehigh, Myah McDonald, Maria Caparros Levin, and Lisa-Marie Pagliano. Annie Saechueng is the alternate in the lineup.
The Lobos enter the NCAA Championship ranked a season-best No. 39 nationally. They won the Mountain West Championship last month and have four other top-three finishes.
