Mackenzie Novak Named Assistant Coach
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Mackenzie Novak has been named assistant coach for the UNM women’s basketball program, as announced by head coach Mike Bradbury. Novak joins the Lobo coaching staff after spending the previous year as the director of player development at George Washington.
In her new role, Novak will work with the guards and assist in recruiting.
Novak served as the director of player development at George Washington last season, in which the Colonials had a player earn the Atlantic 10 Sixth Woman of the Year, as well as a player named to the All-Rookie team and the All-Defensive team.
Prior to her time at GW, Novak was a graduate assistant at Mercer.
During her time at Mercer, Novak helped coordinate the team’s recruiting efforts and assisted with opponent scouting reports. Additionally, Novak was selected to participate in the 2021 Top Connect Graduate Assistant Leadership Program, hosted by Stanford University.
From Eagan, Minnesota, the new assistant coach played at Bethel University, graduating in 2021. Her father is basketball coach Doug Novak, who was an assistant coach with Army’s men’s basketball team and previously served as the interim head coach for Mississippi State’s women’s basketball program during the 2021-22 season.
