Amat and Boneta Earn All-Mountain West Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –– Two members of the New Mexico men’s golf team were honored as the Mountain West announced the 2023 conference honors and awards. Senior Albert Boneta and junior Bastien Amat were named to the All-Mountain West Team for the second time in their respective careers.
Amat earns All-Mountain West recognition for the second straight season. This season he has a stroke average of 70.31, which is on pace for the second-best single-season average in program history. He has five top-10 finishes this season, including his first collegiate win at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno in October as the Lobos won the team title. For the season, 28 of his 36 rounds have been at par or better.
Boneta is an All-Mountain West selection for the second time, having also earned the honor in 2021. His stroke average of 70.67 would rank among the top 10 in UNM single-season history, as 22 of his 33 rounds this season have been par or better. He has two top-five finishes this season, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the Lamkin San Diego Classic when the Lobos won the title.
The Lobos will compete in the NCAA Salem Regional next week at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls in South Carolina. The top five finishers will advance from the regional to the NCAA Championships, held later this month in Scottsdale, Ariz.
