SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The New Mexico women’s golf team continued play Tuesday at the 2023 NCAA San Antonio Regional with the second round at TPC San Antonio. The Lobos shot 14-over during the second round to finish the day in seventh place at 24-over.

The top five teams in the regional will advance to the NCAA Championship, held later this month in Scottsdale, Ariz. Texas A&M is the 36-hole leader at 5-over, with SMU in second at 9-over. Oklahoma State is third at 12-over, Pepperdine is fourth at 15-over and Auburn holds the fifth and final qualifying spot at 18-over. The Lobos will enter the final round six shots out of fifth place, and one shot behind sixth-place Denver, who is at 23-over.

On a rainy day that featured a 53-minute weather delay in the morning, the Lobos shot 14-over. Lauren Lehigh had the best round of the day for UNM, shooting a bogey-free three-under back nine to finish the round with an even par 72. Jenny Lertsadwattana shot a 3-over 75 on Tuesday, while Lisa-Marie Pagliano shot a 5-over 77. Myah McDonald and Maria Caparros Levin each shot 78 in the second round to round out the Lobo lineup.

“It rained all day today,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “After the delay, we just couldn’t get anything going. Lauren had a great back nine and finished well for us. We’re still not that many shots out of fifth, so we will have to bring it tomorrow.”

The NCAA San Antonio Regional will conclude Wednesday at TPC San Antonio.
