Trujillo, Lertsadwattana and Lehigh Earn Mountain West Honors
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico women’s golf team had three members honored Thursday as the Mountain West announced the conference’s 2022-23 women’s golf awards. Jenny Lertsadwattana was named first-team All-Mountain West, Lauren Lehigh was named second-team All-Mountain West and Jill Trujillo was named Mountain West Coach of the Year.
Trujillo earned Mountain West Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in her career (2008, 2014, 2021, 2023) after leading the Lobos to the Mountain West Championship. It was New Mexico’s 10th Mountain West title, the sixth during Trujillo’s tenure. The Lobos also tied the school record with three individual champions in a season, matching the mark by the 2005-06 squad.
Lertsadwattana became the first Lobo to earn first-team honors since 2018 as she earned all-conference honors for the third time in her career (second-team in 2020 and 2021). The Mountain West individual champion, she is the fifth Lobo to win multiple individual titles in a season. Her stroke average of 71.80 this season is on pace to break the UNM school record of 72.12 set by Jodi Ewart in 2009-10.
Lehigh earned second-team honors for the second time in her career, as she was also recognized in 2021. Her 73.20 stroke average this season would rank fifth all-time for a season in UNM history as she has posted a pair of top-10 individual finishes.
The Lobos will compete in the NCAA San Antonio Regional next week at TPC San Antonio. The tournament will run May 8-10 with the top five finishers advancing to the NCAA Championships later this month in Scottsdale, Ariz.
