ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Lobo women’s basketball program has added their third player for the upcoming season in Lara Langermann.

“Lara has played at a very high level in Germany, has been a part of winning programs and her skill level and versatility will be a big asset to our program offensively,” noted head coach Mike Bradbury. “Her ability to make plays for herself and others was why we believe she will be a good fit for us.”

A 5-7 guard from Breckerfeld, Germany, the newest Lobo most recently played for Vfl Viactiv AstroLadies Bochum, a Division 2 team in the Damen Basketballbundesliga. During her time with the club, the team placed fourth in the German Cup, finished second in the league standings and reached the German Women’s League Semifinals. She also played for the BasketGirls Ruhr in the Weibliche Nachwuchsbundesliga (WNBL), a first German under 18 league.

In 2021-22, Langermann played for VFI Viactiv AstroLadies Bochum in the Damen Basketballbundesliga, as well as Herner TC in the Division 1 Damen Regionalliga, where her team finished first in the league and advanced to the second German Senior League.

Langermann also brings national team experience and is one of 21 players with a chance to play for Germany at the Under 18 European Championship.

As to why UNM, Langermann chose New Mexico because of the community and a chance to play collegiate basketball.

Langermann joins fellow German Charlotte Kohl and Nahawa Diarra Berthe in signing with the Lobos in the offseason.
