Lobos Sign Nahawa Diarra Berthe

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The UNM women’s basketball program has signed Nahawa Diarra Berthe for the upcoming season as announced on Monday.

A 5-9 guard from Barcelona, Spain, Diarra Berthe comes to UNM with three years of eligibility remaining after playing at Odessa College.

“Nahawa is a very quick and athletic guard who can play anywhere on the perimeter,” noted head coach Mike Bradbury. “She comes from a great junior college program, is an elite defender and has developed into a capable scorer.”

Diarra Berthe started all 25 games for the Wranglers last season, averaging 29.6 minutes per game, 10.8 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game and 2.3 steals per game. She scored in double figures in 16 games with a season-high 23 points on 11-15 shooting and recorded five or more rebounds in nine games with a season-high nine.

She led the team in minutes played and steals per game, while second in assists per game.

Diarra Berthe is the second addition to the program this offseason, joining Charlotte Kohl.
